Dr. Livingston, I presume

I recently discovered, while watching television, a fascinating creature. This creature has the ability to hibernate for exceptionally long periods of time. It hibernates for two years at a time. What creature is this? It's not a Marmot, they only hibernate for 9 months at a time. It also not the Australian Pygmy-possum (Cercartetus nanus) which has been known to hibernate for a whopping 310 days. Instead I'm talking about Olympicas Reporteris also known as Bob Costas.

Seriously. When do you ever see or hear about him outside of the Olympics? You don't, because he hibernates. He crawls into his hyperbaric chamber with a note that says, "Don't wake me until the Olympics torch runner comes by."

He's been "hosting" the Olympics since 1992 which I realize is not that long in the history of the Olympics but my attention span doesn't go back vary far.

And with that, I will now go and try to watch curling while waiting for Bob's mundane commentary during the breaks.

  1. He's on HBO and NBC... he mostly does baseball so that's probably why you don't see him much.

  3. If only baseball was a real sport. They don't have winners and losers, just scandals.

  4. LOL I was wondering the exact same thing the other day!!
Also, is it just me, or did Bob's hair suddenly look darker today than it has the rest of the Olympics? Fishy, if you ask me.
