This is your warning. I'm considering going private on my blog. Why? Just because I'm getting to the point where I finally don't need an audience anymore. I know that sounds weird, but let's be honest. Someone who publishes a blog really is doing it for someone else. If we say it's just for family, why is the blog public for everyone in the entire world to be able to view? Just my thoughts rambling around. Let's be honest, how many of you really, truly read this blog regularly?
Oh, and sorry that there has been a serious lack of posts. I've been overwhelmed with other things. And you know what, IT FEELS GREAT! Yes, I get stressed and a little frustrated sometimes, but it feels great to have a purpose and have things that I have to do because there is a deadline. Do I have a job? Well, I've been working as much as having a part-time job. Am I getting paid? BWAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA! Nope, I'm volunteering at Jackson's school, and it feels great to have another focus in my life. I love having purpose.
My husband on the other hand. . . I think he would like some time with his wife. Don't worry, Hun, registration is over. You'll have me for at least a week before school starts. . .(just kidding)

Who?
So, my dear friend gave me permission to share this story with you. I got a good laugh out of it, and you will, too -- especially if you've followed the Twilight movies at all.
My friend was watching T.V. recently and saw an advertisement for donating money to help the orphans in Haiti. She felt very moved by the program and knew she just had to donate. (She says that George Clooney didn't have anything to do with it. . . hmmm.) Normally she donates money through the LDS Humanitarian Fund, but she felt strongly that she needed to donate to this fund.
So, she called the number and did her part. After she'd donated and was feeling that high you get from doing something good for someone else, the operator said, "Now as a thanks for donating, you get to talk to a celebrity."
"Uh, okay," replied my friend. The operator then told her that some of the celebrities that have answered the phones have included Michelle Pfeiffer and Robin Williams. She was a little intimidated, not sure what she'd say.
The phone rang and a man's voice answered, "Hi! This is Taylor Lautner. Thanks for donating to Haiti today."
"Hi! You're welcome. I think it's such a great thing that you're doing, and I wanted to help out. What did you say your name was?"
"Uh, Taylor Lautner." My friend quickly wrote his name down and decided to "Google" him later.
{This is the part of the story where I started BUSTING A GUT!}
She and Taylor Lautner then made small talk, and she could tell that he knew that she had NO IDEA who he was.
My friend closed the conversation, "Uh, well, thanks for talking to me today, that was really nice of you. Have a good day, Good-bye!"
She then "Googled" him, and for those of you who don't know who Taylor Lautner is because you've been living in a box (or you're completely anti-Twilight), this is who she talked to
Taylor Lautner is only Jacob Black.
Oh, and at the time, she was just finishing reading New Moon for the first time.

Giving Back
This morning I woke up feeling very undeserving. Very. To sum it up for you: "Mom Guilt." It was during my cool-down portion of my exercise routine that I got the undeserving phone call.
Let me back up/review my past for you. Six years ago, I had a 25-week preemie. At my six-week follow-up appointment, my OB/GYN wrote off the balance we owed him as a "professional courtesy" because he said that we would have too many other worries, and he didn't want us to have this one. I left the appointment in shock.
One year and a half later, I once again sat in his office at my six-week follow-up appointment following my short-lived (22-week) pregnancy with Clarissa. At this appointment, my OB/GYN lovingly (sounds odd, but my doctor is a great man) recommended that I never get pregnant again. The health risks (dying) were too great. Once again he told me that he would accept whatever our insurance paid and that should I get a bill that I should send it to him with the words "personal" written on it, and he would write off the balance again as a "professional courtesy." Again, I was speechless. I tried to thank him, but it just didn't feel enough.
I decided that the best way to pay him back was to keep giving him my business although I knew that I would not need him to be my OB, just my GYN. I would always pay the bill. He deserved to be paid. (I failed to mention that during all four of my pregnancies, he was always very comforting and supportive. He ALWAYS took the time to listen and answer my questions no matter what they were and when I asked them-- for instance, in the middle of my C-Section with Clarissa).
With my doctor, I talked about several "birth control" options: IUD, tubal ligation, hysterectomy, the pill, etc. After 3 years of being on the pill, I was done with that option. When I mentioned tying my tubes, he said he'd do it that week if I were absolutely positive that's what I wanted to do, but he wouldn't do it if we (meaning my husband and I) weren't emotionally ready for that step.
We decided on an IUD. My insurance, however, decided against the IUD. I was left to pay the full price. I got the IUD, and my doctor left on sabbatical (LDS medical mission) for a year. I began paying what I could when I could on the bill. I was determined to pay it off as soon as I could and in full. My doctor deserved it.
By now, you've probably guessed my phone call. Two weeks ago I called the doctor's office because I hadn't seen a bill in about two months. I knew my doctor had returned from his mission and was probably getting readjusted (he decided to join the medical group next door). This morning, my doctor's secretary, his daughter, called to inform me that he has decided to write it off as a "professional courtesy."
We have been recipients of a great gift. This doctor is not the first doctor to do this for us multiple times. Jackson's eye doctor has written off our bill several times as well when it was getting financially stressful to pay bills.
Matt and I feel that we can no longer sit back and just say, "Thank You" to these giving men. We want to give back/pay it forward. I have a couple ideas of what we can do, but I would love some more. Have any ideas for us? We'd love to hear them.
