Thanksgiving 2010

This year we again hosted Thanksgiving at our house.  My youngest brother, his wife, and his daughter came as well as our friends from our old neighborhood.  We loved having all the little ones running around, and Jackson handled the crowd so well.  The food was delicious and the company enjoyable.  What more could someone ask for on Thanksgiving?

Starting left and moving clockwise: Aimee, Annie, Ken, Paige, John, LeMira (Matt was taking the picture)

The kids' table: you'll notice that Jackson didn't stick around for very long as he's not in any of the pictures!

The spread; we ate on my Grandma's china, and everyone contributed to the delicious meal!

An Attitude of Gratitude: Wednesday

Did you read my post here?  If you did, then you will understand why I was grateful beyond words to witness what Jackson did on his own Sunday.

Thanks, Margot, for posting this video. It's made my morning and gotten me in the Holiday Spirit. By the way, I think that Thanksgiving is the perfect lead into Christmas. It gives us a chance to think of everything we're thankful for, and then the Christmas season is a perfect way to pay it forward to show our Heavenly Father true gratitude by giving service and being charitable to all of his children during the season.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Better Late than Never

Anyone else excited for Christmas?!
Before I get there, though, I have to do some backtracking. . .
We spent Thanksgiving at my parents' house. Matt, Jackson, and I crammed into the back seat of my brother's car, and we all drove down together. I'm sure this will be my mom's last hosted dinner as it is getting too much for her. We're hoping that my parents will come up with us some time!
The day after Thanksgiving, Jackson asked my mom about the Christmas tree. She was so good to him and put it up that day. When we got home the next day, Jackson asked about our tree. We went and bought a pre-lit tree at 50% the original price (love the after-Thanksgiving sales)! Jackson loves our tree. I can't tell if he's hiding or digging for presents that aren't there yet.
We decorated our tree the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Even Clarissa has her own ornament on the tree. Our little angel. . . Every day Jackson asks to have the Christmas tree lights on, and they stay on most of the day. I'm so glad that my Christmas excitement has rubbed off on him!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This year was the first year we didn't spend Thanksgiving Day with LeMira's family. They've always lived relatively close, and so it's been easy to visit them. This year we decided to risk the adventure and drive 8 hours to visit Matt's Grandpa and his new wife, Topsy. We broke up the drive into a couple of days so we could visit some friends and family along the way there and on the way home. Here are some highlights of our trip. This is Jackson watching the Incredibles on our portable DVD player in the car. That's his favorite movie right now, and Mommy and Daddy are "Incredible-d" out!

These are the cute turkeys that LeMira and Grandma Topsy made out of cookies, cherry cordials, and candy corn.
Jackson and Aunt Bonnie (a.k.a. Bobbie to Jackson) working on the annual Thanksgiving puzzle.
Matt looking like he's about to pig-out. He really didn't even touch the stuff!
After Thanksgiving Dinner, Grandpa asked LeMira if she would play the piano for a while. Jackson couldn't help playing with Mommy. He loves music!
Here are Jackson and his cousin Sabrina. We stopped by LeMira's parents' and brothers' houses on our way back home. Only two of LeMira's seven brothers were missing for the occasion, and so Jackson had fun playing with his cousins. Here he is riding one of Uncle Adam's skitters. They are fun!

We truly enjoy celebrating Thanksgiving with family. It's fun to get together to laugh and visit. We have all kinds of fun whenever we're with family!
