Last Two Weeks of TK

The last two weeks of Jackson's school year meant he had his class program and his class party. Let me just say that his teacher has it right. The class program was easy for them to practice because she just had them sing the songs they'd sung all year long. She teaches them a song or two a month and then that's what they sang at the program along with their counting and alphabet songs. I'm only going to put up one little clip of Jackson, and that was his one speaking part. Don't turn away, you might miss it.



Interpretation: "Ring the Bells"

Of course, my most favorite part of all was when the kids sang "Atutita"(pronounced "Uh-too-tee-tah"). What? You don't know that song. Well, then you'd best look it up. It's sort of a rite of passage these days to move on from Kindergarten. Really, I promise, he's not puking. He's singing "Atutita."


His teacher also had a great last day planned for the kids. She kept them in their routine: carpet time, centers, snack, etc., except for a few exceptions. For "recess" she taught them some good ol' fashioned games like "What Time is it Mr. Wolf?", "Pass the Frog" (her version of "Button, Button, who's got the Button?", and "Red Light, Green Light." The kids loved it! The emphasis was on getting a turn, not on winning. Jackson got to be Mr. Wolf, and since he loves numbers, when the kids asked what time it was, he picked the biggest number he could, "12 o'clock." Yeah, he was done in one turn (after everyone took their twelve steps) and was sad. I just smiled and giggled inside. That's my boy!


I'm sure going to miss his teachers next year. The one in the middle is the TK teacher, and the other two women are her technicians. Jackson loved them all. Again, you get two pictures. The only way I could get a nice smile was to promise a silly picture. Yep, he must be six!
