That's what I had to tell myself more than ten times this morning. Since moving, we've had to adjust our morning schedules to be able to take Daddy to meet the bus in the mornings. I've decided that this was a perfect transition for me to start getting up before the sun is even contemplating getting up to go running and start training for the 5K that I will run in August.
Running a 5K has been the HARDEST goal for me. Ever. I love my sleep in the mornings. I have mental blocks telling me that the harder I try, I won't lose weight anyway. It'll just come back. I rely on food for comfort, for reward, and to take out my stress. Then, I'm just upset by my choices again. I won't be ready for the 5K because I'll quit running and lose my motivation anyway. Well, I've decided to train my negative mind to GO AWAY! I'm not listening anymore.
Instead, to motivate me to get moving and keep going, I listen to the following songs on my shuffle, in this order. (Now you will really have insight into my soul and personality.)
"Eye of the Tiger" from the Rocky III
"Beat It" by Michael Jackson (pretty much his best song ever)
"We Will Rock You" by Queen
"Tubthumbing" by Chumbawamba
"Holding Out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler
"It's My Life" by Bon Jovi -- the song that gets me going no matter what!
"Viva La Vida" by Coldplay
"Beautiful Day" by U2
"Send Me an Angel" by Real Life
What song(s) get(s) you moving?
Starlight, by Muse
ReplyDeleteAmazing, By Jem
Sooner or Later, by Michael Tolcher
Shh, by Frou Frou
Angels of the Silences, Counting Crows
Always, by Erasure . . . well, basically anything my Erasure, but especially Always.
Really, this list could go on for days.
Don't laugh ... the upbeat songs on High School Musical 1, 2, and 3. Just gotta dance to 'em. "What Time Is It?" (HSM2) is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteAnd, to mix it up with a few other Disney Channel stars:
Like Whoa by Aly & AJ
Step Up by Cheetah Girls
Run It Back Again by Corbin Bleu
(Someday I might grow up.) :-)
Good luck with your 5K training!!
Oh, I love finding good running songs!
ReplyDeleteOne of my faves is Would You Go With Me by Josh Turner. And I just downloaded David Cook's CD and he has some great ones!
I miss you!!! Hope all is well. Keep going, don't give up!!! You are going to run that 5K. Keep in touch and tell Jackson Hi for us. We miss him, and Carson still says in his prayers that Sister Wheelwright and Jackson will find a house to live in. Even though I have explained to him that you already live in a house. I think he just misses you guys as well. Love the Jon Schmidt movie and also the other music video about the adoption. I cried, you were right. See you soon.
ReplyDeleteok, I would tell you what I have on my ipod to run with but you would laugh. so I am going to edit.
ReplyDeletepop! goes my heart- music and Lyrics
poker face- lady gaga
eyes on fire- blue foundation
Careless whisper- seether
starstruck- lady gaga
Supermassive Black Hole- Muse
Time is running out- Muse
ok I am still a little embarrased but they have a fast beat to keep pace with. Keep it up, I'm rooting for you.
What a fun music lineup! Since my exercising (when it happens) consists of a workout dvd, I don't usually exercise to music. BUT when Brighton is in the mood to dance, our favorites are:
ReplyDelete"Made To Love" by TobyMac
"I'm Alive" by Jeremy Camp
"Sweet Escape" by Gwen Stefani
And I agree with Kristin...Erasure is highly danceable!
I thinks it's awesome you've set the goal to run a 5k! Keep being motivated...it will feel so good!
ReplyDelete"I don't feel like dancin'" by scissor sisters.
ReplyDeletePretty much most Def Leppard and most 80's rock
ReplyDeleteYou can do it!!!!! I remember those same thoughts going through my head but tell yourself every day I AM A 5K runner and before you know it, it will happen. I always love running to Danger Zone from Top Gun! and most 80's fast beat songs. I also love Tim McGraw's Live like you were dying! I didn't have an ipod when I ran my first 5K and that was what I sang to myself. "I think I'm dying, I think I'm dying"
ReplyDeleteExcellent song choices. Viva La Vida always gets me going... that and good weather.
ReplyDeleteLove the song choices. I don't really listen to anything....but I should. Perhaps thats why I haven't ran in ages is because I don't run to the right music. Once I tried running to general conference talks. I only lasted a week...lol
ReplyDeleteThe Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen is a great book to give you good insight to NOT GIVE UP!
You can dooooooooooit!
LOL - that's awesome! As soon as I started reading your song list, I started singing the songs to myself - lol :)
