New Year's 2013

This was the first year that Jackson stayed up until midnight.  We were boring parents and just watched TV until midnight.  We called Jackson down to join us right before the networks showed the ball dropping.  Jackson was excited to be awake the first moments of 2013.  Cole was asleep, which is why he isn't in any of the pictures.

I'm still trying to adjust to writing 2013 on everything, and Jackson continues to inform me how many more days until 2014.  Slow down, Kiddo!

Later that day, Jackson got a big surprise.  My brother and his family were traveling through back to their house after visiting some family.  My brother called to inform me that he had an early birthday present for Jackson and were going to stop by.  If you know Jackson, then you know that he gives the BEST reactions to gifts.  He was squealing and jumping for excitement even before the box was opened.

When he opened it and discovered a telescope, you can imagine the elation.  He was adamant that the telescope be set up immediately.

Sadly, there was no tripod in there, and so we're still waiting for that so he can actually use it.  Since it's been so cold and snowy, it's okay he hasn't been able to use it because there really is no place to put it right now.  He's most excited to find Venus and any other planet he could spot.  That's my science-driven boy!

Thank you Uncle Will and Aunt Debbie and Fred and Furlann for the great gift!  He really LOVES it.
