Happiness

I woke up this morning with these words ringing in my head,

Happiness is a state of being, not a destination.

You can't always choose what happens in your life, but you can choose how you are going to live it.  I love the saying "Make this life the life of your dreams" (paraphrased quote from Hal Elrod).  You can create it.  It doesn't mean going out and overturning your life to make something completely new, it means that you take the life you have and make it what you want it to be.

When I fell the other day and was limping home, I thought about not being able to run for a while (turned out only a couple of days),  I turned and noticed these beautiful flowers in my neighbor's yard:

Although my leg was killing me and I felt really light-headed, I took the moment to notice these beautiful flowers.  They are beautiful.  They were are reminder to me that although we may be suffering in life, whether it's health, finances, family, discouragement, or a banged up knee, there is always something beautiful worth noticing and loving.  There is happiness, and it's a choice. Be present.  Ask yourself, "How do I make my life, the one placed before me, the life of my dreams?  What would it take?"

Live the life of your dreams by living life.
